How to Add your Logo or Text to a Photo using Photoshop
Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Cason and I have been living it up here in Southern Florida. It’s BEAUTIFUL and sunny. All of the locals are bundled up because it’s only 70 degrees and a little windy, but Cas and I are sporting shorts, flip-flops and big smiles!
More on THAT later…
While I’m gone trying to soak up the last bits of sun before we come home on Tuesday, I wanted to leave you with an awesome photo tip/tutorial from our favorite girl, Emilie from Photo by Emilie!
Today Emilie is sharing her easy how-to, when it comes to putting your blog/business logo or just simply some text on each of your edited photos in Photoshop. One of the most basic, but important skills that every armature OR professional photographer should know.
Take it away Emilie!
Open your image and your logo in Photoshop. Your logo needs to be in a psd or png format
(these formats allow a translucent background).
(these formats allow a translucent background).
Be sure there is a check mark in front of “Show Transform Controls”. This allows you to change the size of the logo.
Use the Move tool (short cut “V”) to change the size of your logo and place it where you would like it on the image.
Create a text box and type the text that you would like on your image. Select the font, size and color from the control panel.
Thanks Emilie!

Hasn't the weather been perfect down here? Not all locals are bundled up – only the crazy ones who want to show off their "winter" outfits ๐ I'm loving this for all the outside projects we are working on in the house. Enjoy your time in my neck of the woods!

That's too funny about Florida. I live in the Tampa area and yes, if it hits below 70, I am bundled up! This from a former northerner. We are spoiled by all our sunny days and great weather. I hope you had a great time in our neck of the woods.

Love these tips! And another . . . if you hold down your shift key while resizing the logo it will maintain it's proportions.
Sooooo jealous you are in Florida!

You guys look like you're having a blast! I'm in a suburb of Phoenix, so of course we have very mild winters – and even though I'm from the midwest, I still become a wimp when it gets below 70 or so!

Where is the best deal to purchase Photoshop? What version/suite/whatever would you recommend?
Emily in Wonderland says
The best deal for purchasing photoshop is to become a student for a semester at a local community college and purchase it through the school or on Amazon. You will have to show proof that you are a student, but you can then buy the program for half price or better. The school has to be accredited or it won't count. (No clown colleges or diploma mills.) That said most people don't really need straight up photoshop and you can easily use Photoshop elements to do most of this stuff. PS is really expensive, even half price and is going to cost you hundreds of dollars and you won't use it much and definetly not to it's full potential. It is extremely complicated. Corel or a similar program is much more user friendly and much more affordable for the average user and I am sure you can do just about anything you would want to do (brighten darken, black and white, sepia, etc) in it. But if you really want photoshop… try starting with Elements… much cheaper, and you can do so much with it now, even actions. I buy almost everything off Amazon. If you want full blown Photoshop, buy the newest version, you won't be able to find anything else, and don't buy it off ebay or anything like that. The program won't be legit and you won't be able to register it. The program will shut off after the trial period and you'll be screwed out of your money. Buy though Adobe, a college, or Amazon, or a photo website like B & H photo video if they sell it or Adorama.
Also, it's "Voila" not wah-la. That drives me crazy!!!! AHHHH! lol I took three years of French and I can't stand that! Who started that?! ๐

Emily & Jan,
RE: Voila vs Wah-la. My sister is living in Paris, & over Christmas we had the funniest conversation about this very thing. She thinks Wah-la is so unsophisticated!! ha ha!! I say that Wah-la is how us small town American girls say it ๐ I totally put Wah-la to tease her!! How funny that you both caught it. So did she & we've been laughing about ever since. Sorry Shelley for using your blog as my platform for my inside joke with my Sis. Love you Ali!!
