An Impromptu Snow-Filled Photo Shoot
Problem was, we didn’t have a photographer and there wasn’t really any snow on the ground… where we lived anyway. So we drove up a canyon or two, until we found some.
I know a lot of people don’t appreciate the snow… or maybe more specifically the cold that comes along with it, but honestly, I really love it. Maybe this has to do with the fact that I’d rather layer up this bod, than strip it down to reveal bare skin, ANY time I have the choice. ha!
And guess what?… I don’t feel ashamed about it one, single bit.
I’ve got a few fun ideas for this years decor in the works. I’m hoping to get a lot of it up this week, in time to share it with you right after Thanksgiving (and maybe even a little before).

Until then, have you seen all of Destiny’s Christmas goodness?
We were thrilled to partner up with her this year over in our shop, The House of Smiths Designs, to launch a new line called, Designs by Destiny!
This girl has some amazing talent, her home is to die for, and her kiddos are even cuter. Check out her latest blog posts on all of her Christmas decor, or just jump on over to the shop to purchase some of her designs for yourself!

Those are great pictures!
I want to get snow pictures of my brood, too. All of us in the Michigan wilderness, navy blue wool peacoats, chunky creamy scarves, and jeans. Red or white turtlenecks underneath the coats peeking out.
I love how snow and cold makes everyone's skin look clear and glowy. ๐ as my face thinks I'm reliving adolescence this is important to me. Lol

What great pictures! I wish we could drive a few miles and find some snow. There is something about snow, and even cold weather that puts me in the Christmas spirit too. So even though we haven't had snow, we've had cold and it does seem like Christmas is right around the corner. Scary thought.

The photos are lovely. Just as a tip, if you have Photoshop or Lightroom (or any other editing software) adding a bit of yellow to the pictures will neutralize the blue tint. I really need to get my family out in the snow for some photos too. We won't have to go looking though…we got like 8 inches last night!!

Love, love, love your photos & it's amazing that you did it all without the help of a photographer! The girl's outfits are dar-ling {are they growing up or what!}. And you look gorgeous. Great job "finding" some snow. Just wish I could have been there to throw some potato flakes in front of you just before the shutter closed . . .
Warmly, Michelle

Wow, those pictures are beautiful–I am jealous that you have such easy access to snow… and that your kids are so cooperative to having their picture taken. We tried to do a family shoot yesterday evening with a 13 year old, 8 year old, 14 month old, and 4 week old–and let's just say, I am now very envious of family photos as glorious as yours

I was just going to post the same thing. There is a blue cast to the photos that needs to be slightly adjusted down – just a little photographer tip before you have these printed. You can do that in Elements, too. Fun fun photos! We're in Phoenix so we have to drive 2 hours north to Flagstaff to see any snow, but getting antsy to do that! We LOVE snow!!

I was just going to suggest the same thing! There is a blue cast to the photos (the white balance is so hard to get right in snow!) so just take the blues down a smidge =) You can do that in Elements, too. Just a little photographer tip before you have these babies printed!
I understand your love of snow! We're in Phoenix and will have to drive about 2 hours north to Flagstaff to see some. We already have a cabin booked for after Christmas because we have to get our snow fun on soon!! LOVE snow!

The picture of you and your hubs is just amazing. Not to be forward, but the love and light illuminating between you too is just so beautiful. The girls are real beauts' too, you're going to have your hands full when they hit high school!
