Master Bathroom Finishing Touches … kind of
I feel like if I subtitle this post with “finishing touches” that it will make me feel like we’re thaaaat much closer to finishing this bathroom redo, that money will automatically appear out of thin air, and all of the perfect decor for my bathroom will magically be nicely stocked in ONE store, at the same time… in a convenient location near my home.
.
.
.
PS: It’s not working.
๐
Reality is. Enough is never enough for us! First we were just going to paint some walls and slap up a few hooks. Now, besides ripping out the actual shower and tub … we’ve basically undergone a full bathroom remodel. Electrical, trim, granite counter tops, new fabulous toilet and sink, and now…built-ins. gah!
Really, it’s all Cason’s fault. While laying in bed one night he sketched up this baby.
Built in’s? Whaaa? How can a girl say NO to built-ins?
Well, I don’t know about YOU… but I can’t. So we’re Cason’s going to build some built-ins!
๐
We’ve got most of it assembled, except for the doors, and then we’ll move onto painting and installation. That will probably take another good month or so… what do ya think?
(rolling my eyes) juuuust kidding.
So far we’ve put up molding, painted it, finished painting the bathroom vanity, installed our beautiful Villeroy and Boch toilet, and besides the built-ins with new lighting, we’re on the search for…
“THE PERFECT RUG”
pretend there was an echo sound while reading those caps… mmkay?
Really though… what’s a girl have to do to find a decently priced, modern, durable bathroom rug around here? Note to all of my readers: I will definitely be posting a Facebook discussion about this soon.
Aaaanyway… I’m signing off with this little treat for you…
Is it kiiind of embarrassing for Cason? – Yes.
.
Does it show off my dainty “giggling skills” when presented with impromptu preformances by my husband? – Definitely Not (I pretty much sound like a hyena)
.
But does it completely showcase the #1 reason that we have such a hard time completing projects in a timely manner? – Aaabsolutely
Really… why do us Smith’s feel the need to display our emotions through song so often?
We need help.

First of all, you two are ADORABLE!
#2, You DO NOT sound like a hyena!
Third, Cason is a great sport. My husband would kill me if I posted something like that!
4) Wasn't it Casey that sang like that? Or did I miss the Jake rendition? I missed an episode or two. ๐

Your bathroom is on the way to looking gorgeous and I have to say that I'm a little jealous that you have a handy hubby. After growing up with a dad who built furniture as a hobby and a brother who's an architect….it's been a little "rough" having a not so handy hubby. But I love him anyway and I've learned to do a few things myself. Just not woodwork. Here's to weekend(s) warriors and good luck finishing your project. Can't wait to see the finished room!
Laurie says
Oh my gosh you two are cute! I can't wait to see it finished, your bath is looking GREAT!
Leila says
I am dying to see a full view of your bathroom! Hmm…I never thought I would say that. But it is so true!
All Things Beautiful says
Wow! We almost did the same thing. We were/are painting our second bath, new shower curtain, new towel hooks and light fixture. All this nearly turned into a full bathroom remodel, but with #3 on the way we decided to post pone than one. ๐
Can't wait to see your finished product.

A while back (like 6 or so years ago) I saved an article out of Martha Stewart Magazine about making braided rugs out of old towels… I looked on the website to see if it was archived- it wasn't but this tutorial was there and the only difference is that you use towels. Then you could make it any size, shape or color you wanted. Maybe not the look you are going for? But I think a white braided towel rug would look tre chic, no?.

Thanks to you and all your cool stuff I am now finding a way to incorporate these cool wall/board/shelf/subway art things in all of our rooms. Every 2-3 years we repaint all the rooms in our house and my husband finally asked.."who is this house of Smith's lady and why is it that not only are we repainting but now I have to buy boards and saw??". Your bathroom looks amazing and love the shot of you in the tub!!
Classy Clutter says
bahahaha!! That is AWESOME!

It looks like it's coming along nicely. I wish I had a home to do that in. We are renting and the house we are in has SO much potential. Maybe my friend won't mind if we do a little something. ๐
