The Twins’ First day of 1st Grade!
I know I promised to post about a project that I’m working on for my office today, but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a total Mom, and share way too many pictures of my sweet, new, first graders today!
Let’s be honest, if I don’t do it NOW, it won’t happen, so the office project post will have to wait till tomorrow. (but I promise, it WILL go up) ha!
For some reason I got a bit emotional for this new year. I think the big reason, is because these girls have really grown up SO much in the past year. And this is the first time that they’ll be going to school ALL day! Seriously, I can’t even believe it! Truth be told, they are more than ready… and so am I. This Summer was long, and they are anxious to get busy learning and making new friends.
I wanted to do something extra special for them this year, because they were both a little nervous about being gone from me for so long. When we were out shopping the girls saw these pink rhinestone heart necklaces and wanted them. I “told them” that they were a bit too much money, and we were going to have to get them next time. Secretly I slipped them into our purchase and wrapped them up with a little note from Cason and I, for them to open this morning before they headed out.
They were beyond excited, and it was just a fun little thing for them to hopefully help them feel a bit more confident and happy, on this somewhat anxious day.
I’ll let the rest of the pictures speak for themselves. But basically, I made sure I had lots of time to capture these sweet girls at this tender age, because it really just flies by way too fast.
The girls were thrilled to have a few of their best friends in their class again this year, and got right into the groove of things once they found their desks and got into the classroom.
All day school is a BIG adjustment for both kids AND the Mom, I think. On one hand I’m jumping up and down with excitement for a house that will stay cleaner longer, and kids who will now be entertained and kept busy for 7 hours of the day… but on the other hand, I’m just as anxious and nervous as they are, because you hope and pray that you’ve raised your kids the best you could, and that they are respectful, helpful and kind to everyone they associate with, when you’re not around.
I know that these chicks will do fabulously, but it’s still a little scary and sad to see my first little ones go.
So how did everyone else do on their kids’ first day!?

Well my son started middle school today and I have to say that a little piece of my heart stopped when he got out of the car! I cant wait till its time to pick him up so he can tell me all about it. My baby girl on the other hand was all smiles when I left her in second grade. She said "if it will make you feel better you can come in but you dont have too" LOL kids grow way too fast!

It was my sons first day of first grade too! He had all day kindergarten last year but it was still hard to say goodbye. Although he was totally ready and it was getting hard to keep hm entertained, I miss him when he isn't around. It's hard to not have that control of how his day is. If someone hurts his feelings I won't be there to make it better. I get that he needs to figure it out all sorts of stuff himself but I think every first day is a reminder that you have to let go a little more and it hurts. Thank you for posting this! All of my friends treated me like I was crazy today and this made me feel like someone out there gets it:)

Shelleyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! This post *almost* made me cry! What about brought on the waterfall was looking at the photos from 2010-2012. Holy Crap-ola!!!! Two years makes such a huge difference. I think of my baby boy (he's 2) and wonder how big of jump he'll make in two years like your sweet girls do. He'll grow up TOO fast. tear*
But Shelley. It's looks like you got yourself a handful with the one on the right. Just look at that sass! She's posing for every pic! Hilarious! ๐ You better watch out when she's 16 . . . hehehe

Okay Shelley. You win. I cried while my husband watched. I really don't want to lose my sweet little boy.

Oh, Shelley, I know just how you feel! My oldest started 1st grade last Monday, and it was her first time going all day too. I was a nervous wreck for her, but she seems to have adjusted really well. It's exciting, but a bittersweet milestone, huh? Your girls are so cute. Love their first day of school outfits.

Beautiful girls! They look just like you, Shelley! And I have just 1 question… How did mrs. Taylor possibly make it through the day in those shoes? Whew! ๐ I used to teach 1st grade, and we all wore flats b/c we were on our feet all day. She's raising the bar for teachers everywhere! ๐

My youngest also started first grade last week. Same feelings you were having–love the house being clean more than five minutes, but still a little anxious. She did GREAT! I LOVE the idea of the necklaces. I think I might still use it. Where did you find those darling polka dot tunics and black shoes? (I'm in Utah Valley.)

Alright RockStar Mom, you are putting the rest of us to shame! You are always ahead of the game and think of everything. Look at those little gift bags & gift tags! You would think I would be ready with TS Isaac pushing our first day back one day. Yet I did manage to get up late, forgot her lunchbox note and only got 3 photos. Can I have a 'do over' please?
And now you are going to have to add hair tutorials to your blog posts too?

Your girls are absolutely priceless! Very sweet! And I love their outfits. I think you are very smart taking pictures while they're young.. the time really does fly and I don't know how a year can pass by so quickly. This year my son starts high school (grade 9) this Tuesday and I think we're both a bit anxious..
