Spring Board with Crepe Paper Rose Wreath

{Spring Has Sprung!}

Here at the Smith house anyway!
I know it's a bit early, seeing that we just had a freak snowstorm today... but i just feeeeel the sunny days, flip-flops and pretty colors around the corner! I wanted to make a happy reminder that those warmer temps are around the corner, so I came up with this fun wreath and plaque.

Here's how I did it...
I had an unfinished wood plaque that I purchased at my local wood craft supplier
(It measured about 11.5 x 12.5 inches)
I painted, with a foam brush, the entire board with this green timberline paint... LOVE this color!
I distressed the edges of my board really well with sandpaper, then I just took a foam brush and a bit of regular white craft paint and swiped the edges of the board with the white, where my wood was exposed. After that I took a damp rag and started wiping off the white a bit... so it wasn't so stark looking.

DON'T FREAK: When I did this... some of the green started to rub off a bit and get a little lighter... even though my board was totally dry and still looked totally awesome!

I just started messing around with my (almost) dry, white paint tipped foam brush, feathering out the leftover white paint a little here or there... running it down the middle and then wiping it off a bit. You can't mess it up :)

After I had the board just how I wanted it I applied my "SPRING" vinyl and then some clear acrylic, gloss sealer to give it a finished shine

Then I added my cute crepe paper rose wreath!
I made it with an 8 inch, round wreath form and used the same technique as the ball forms, from earlier.

To adhere it to the board I just pinned some thick white ribbon to the back of the wreath form, strung it over the top of the finished wood plaque, positioned it where I wanted, and then hot glued the ribbon to the back of the board.

I love all of the pink that these crepe paper roses add to my spring decor!

  29. I LOVE IT!! I wanna make one too! Going to check out your links now and see how to get it. That paint color is perfect. I'll have to get some of that too.
    Speaking of pink and flowers, I've been doing my bedroom and I really wanted to add florals so I asked my husband what he thought. His response, as long as he has a place to sleep. Poor guy is just too nice. He's been pushed out of the house and has no manly room of his own.
