Eyelash Extension Q&A with Heather from Aqua Spa

Eyelash Extension questions answered with Heather from Aqua Spa Inc.
Today I wanted to post about one of my most frequently asked questions.
As I went through our FAQ submissions I started giggling at how MANY of you ladies had the same questions over and over again about my eyelash extensions post that I did a few months back. ha!
A Home DIY blog and you all want to know about my eyelashes?...Go figure! lol.

Well, I'm happy to answer ANY questions that our readers have, so the last time I went to get my eyelash extensions filled I took TONS of pictures, and asked Heather all of your need-to-know eyelash extension questions while she worked on my hair stylist, Mindy.
(who is equally as fabulous and actually referred me to Heather!)

Eyelash Extension Q & A:

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are a new procedure that will enhance the beauty of your eye. Synthetic lashes are semi-permanently attached to your natural lashes on a lash-by-lash basis. They can look as natural or as dramatic as you like. They are completely safe and will not ruin your natural lashes.

What kind of results can I expect?

You can expect to enhance your natural lash line. We can only work with the lashes you have. However, extension come in a variety of lengths so you can determine how dramatic or natural you want the effect. We will discuss your options for different looks before applying your extensions.

How long do they last?

They will typically last about two months with normal wear, although individual results will vary. It is recommended that clients get a fill every 2-3 weeks to touch-up areas that have fallen out due to the natural growth cycle of your lashes. With regular fills, you will never have to purchase a full set again.

How long can I go between fills?

Every person is different, but it is recommended that you fill your lashes every 2-3 weeks. You want to get a fill once you have lost about half of your extensions. Your extensions will last longer if they are properly cared for and not played with.

Are they safe?

YES! When applied properly, extensions are completely safe and will not damage your natural lashes. All of the individual lashes I use are silk and mink lashes, so they don't irritate the eye. Every 28-90 days your eyelashes naturally fall out and a new one grows in its place. Each lash is in a different stage of the growth process at any given time. Because they are applied lash-by-lash, extensions do not interfere with your lashes natural growth cycle. They fall out as your natural lash falls out.

What is the process like?

You will be comfortably lying down with your eyes closed while the extensions are being applied. It will generally take around 1 hour for a full set and fills.

Can I wear mascara with my extensions?

The beauty of extensions is that you will not need mascara since the extensions provide a thick, dark lash line.

How do I care for my extensions?

Be Gentle! Try not to touch or play with your lashes. Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24 hours. Avoid oily products and only use a water based make-up remover. Extension approved eye make-up remover is available. Avoid scrubbing your lash line.

Obviously you all can tell already that I LOVE my "new" lashes :)
I can't even express how fabulous it feels to look instantly glam straight out of the pool or shower, no makeup needed! For someone like me who has thin, fine hair to begin with, this little extra is a must have for me. I haven't had any problems with eye irritation, and I can usually go about 2-3 weeks before I need fills.

Happy Monday!
